Rebecca Wurzburger:
famous art city to collaborate with SZ
Santa Fe, the second largest art market in the United States, would like to share its experience with Shenzhen to boost the city's tourism by promoting its artists and their works, Rebecca Wurzburger, mayor pro-tem and councilor of Santa Fe, said in an exclusive interview yesterday.
Wurzburger is a delegate to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network conference in Shenzhen.
"The CEO of Tencent — a Shenzhen enterprise that owns the most popular instant messenger in China — says the company will create a platform for our network to enhance our artistic cooperation," Wurzburger said.
As a "City of Folk Art and Design" endorsed by UNESCO in 2004, Santa Fe in New Mexico is an international folk art market, where 65,000 people enjoy 200 galleries, an internationally known opera, a symphony orchestra and three major art festivals, she said.
