Louise Catherine Mitchell:British welcomes more cities of music
“I am sure before long there will be some City of Music from other parts of the world,” said Louise Catherine Mitchell, director of the program of UNESCO City of Music in Glasgow, U.K. yesterday.
There are now four UNESCO Cities of Music, namely Seville from Spain, Glasgow from U.K., Bologna from Italy and Ghent from Belgium, all of which are European cities. But Mitchell believed it's just a coincidence, “There is fine music all over the world, different kinds of music. For example from China, from Brazil, etc.”
Mitchell's first visit to Shenzhen is in 2006, after attending an international music conference in Hong Kong. She was impressed with Shenzhen's atmosphere and efforts in music. She went to the Shenzhen Music Hall, which was still being built then. “I heard Shenzhen is a City of Piano. I like the music hall also but I haven't seen it since it's been opened. So I will go and have a look during this trip.”
