It is generally acknowledged that Shenzhen, entitled City of Design, was "designed" 30 years ago. Up to now, a design network composed of more than 6,000 design companies, 60,000 professional designers and over 10 design fields has been established in Shenzhen, in which industrial design has occupied 60 percent of the national market, and ranks first both in quality and quantity of creative industries. Shenzhen became a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network two years ago, endorsed as City of Design. It is the first city in China and also the 6th city around the world known as the City of Design in the network.
众所周知，深圳本身就是一座被“设计”出来的现代都市。30年前，这座城市幸运地“被出生”。如今，深圳已拥有由6000多家设计企业、6万多名专业设计师、10多个设计领域组成的创意设计网络。其中工业设计占据中国60%的市场份额，设计公司数量、规模及人才均居全国之首。就在两年前，深圳还加入全球创意城市网络联盟，被联合国教科文组织授予“设计之都”称号，成为中国第1个、全球第6个获此殊荣的城市。
